Oggi fa un mese che sono in viaggio. Mi sembra di essere arrivato l'altro ieri e allo stesso tempo mi sento come se fossi qui da sempre. Non ho voglia di fare un bilancio, ma sicuramente voglio rendere grazie.

Alla vita.

A Madre Natura.

Al mio giusto sentiero, che continua a manifestarsi davanti a me e a condurmi lungo questa meravigliosa avventura.

A me stesso, per l'amore che sto finalmente imparando a darmi.

A tutte le anime che camminano con me, accompagnandomi e dandomi l'opportunità di condividere, imparare e crescere ancora di più.

In particolare oggi voglio ringraziare il mio amico Gianluca, che è l'artefice di queste bellissime foto che mi ritraggono mentre ringrazio per l'avvento di un'altro giorno.

Ho conosciuto Gianluca l'estate scorsa in Croazia, anche se eravamo già in contatto tramite amici in comune, e siamo subito entrati in grande sintonia.

Dopo sei mesi ci siamo ritrovati insieme qui a Mazunte, e l' occasione mi ha dato l'idea per questa rubrica: ogni mese vi racconterò la vita di un viaggiatore che ho conosciuto o con cui sono in contatto, nella speranza di condividere sempre più informazioni e ispirazioni.

Ciao Gianluca, ci racconti chi sei e cosa fai?

Ciao Ale, sono un fotografo e videomaker italiano. Ho vissuto gli anni della formazione e delle prime esperienze lavorative a Bologna, pensando inizialmente che sarebbe stata la città in cui avrei vissuto il resto della mia vita. Nonostante avessi creato una buona rete di contatti, la quantità di lavori che arrivavano, se pur interessanti, non era abbastanza per avere una stabilità economica. Anche per questo avevo paura di viaggiare, pensando che sarebbe stata dura crearmi contatti lavorativi altrove. 

Finché nel 2017, a 29 anni, l'insoddisfazione per tutto ciò che stavo vivendo e un periodo abbastanza buio mi hanno portato a prenotare, senza pensarci troppo, un biglietto di sola andata per l'Australia.

Così è iniziato tutto, dopo quel viaggio non sono più riuscito a fermarmi. Da poco sono diventato ufficialmente nomade, non ho più una casa e vivo alla ricerca di avventure e un posto nel mondo.

Ci siamo conosciuti al Modem Festival, di cui eri il fotografo ufficiale. Parlaci della tua esperienza nel mondo dei festival psytrance.

Lavoro nei festival dal 2014 ma solo recentemente ho scoperto il mondo Psy. Dopo la prima festa nel 2017 me ne sono perdutamente innamorato e ho subito deciso che era quello lo stile di vita che avrei voluto adottare: girare per il mondo seguendo la stagione dei festival, farmi trasportare dai viaggiatori "pirati", vivere all'avventura e soprattutto libero. Organizzai un progetto di viaggio/documentaristico viaggiando via terra dal Boom festival in Portogallo (uno dei più grandi festival Psy in Europa) fino a Goa in India, dove è nato il movimento. Da lì mi si sono aperte tante porte e ho iniziato a lavorare per alcuni festival. Il primo è stato il 7 Chakras festival in Italia, che mi ha introdotto nella scena. Successivamente ho sentito il bisogno di fare altre esperienze all'estero e sono stato accettato per lavorare al MoDem in Croazia. In due settimane ho conosciuto una quantità spropositata di artisti, musicisti, djs, organizzatori e persone fantastiche provenienti da tutto il mondo. I festival Psy ti sbattono in faccia una realtà alternativa meravigliosa, che quando la scopri non vorresti più tornare alla vita reale. C'è tanta cultura con workshops, letture, dibattiti. Poi c'è la parte healing con yoga, massaggi, sound bathing e benessere spirituale. Le gallerie artistiche con esposizioni di artisti incredibili e live painting. La musica, con diversi stages e sempre di ottima qualità. E le persone che frequentano questo tipo di festival, quelle di cui non riesco più a fare a meno. Una grande tribù, fratelli e sorelle spars* per il mondo. Un'enorme famiglia che incontrerai in ogni viaggio e che ti accoglierà sempre con un enorme e caloroso abbraccio. Quelli che, anche se li frequenti per poco tempo, riescono a riempirti il cuore e a farti amare il mondo.

Parliamo di vivere in viaggio, qual è la tua formula?

La formula può variare in base alle esigenze. Quando vado in altri continenti parto sempre con due zaini, come in questo momento in Messico. Il backpack con lo stretto necessario per la sopravvivenza e lo zaino fotografico, con tutta l'attrezzatura lavorativa. Rispetto ad altri viaggiatori porto molto peso sulle spalle, che però mi è fondamentale per lavorare. Viaggiando spesso in posti caldi si riducel volume degli indumenti e se mi dovessi trovare a passare per zone fredde cerco qualche vestito più caldo in mercatini usati o nei free market (se ne trovano in centri sociali, ecovillaggi, ostelli e situazioni comunitarie), in cui viaggiatori e local lasciano ciò che non serve più e chi ne ha bisogno può prenderli gratuitamente. Per quanto riguarda l'alloggio cerco sempre le situazioni più economiche: a volte mi faccio ospitare, altre volte vado in ostelli oppure faccio volontariato in luoghi comunitari quando voglio fermarmi per più tempo.

In Europa ho lasciato il camper, che diventa la mia casa per i mesi estivi e che mi permette di abbattere i costi e di poter girare in modo più agile. La vanlife l'ho sperimentata la prima volta durante il mio primo viaggio in Australia, me ne sono perdutamente innamorato e penso sia il modo migliore di viaggiare per periodi lunghi.

Sei una delle poche persone che conosco che gode dello status di “senza fissa dimora”: ci spieghi in breve di cosa si tratta e i motivi della tua scelta?

Per essere riconosciuti dallo Stato, per avere una serie di diritti (voto, sanità, lavoro etc.) e per poter viaggiare, abbiamo bisogno di una residenza. Per chi non ha un'abitazione fissa è possibile ottenere la residenza in una via fittizia, ogni città deve averne una. Può servire per tutti i nomadi (digitali e non), per chi si sposta sempre per lavoro, per chi vive in camper e anche per i senzatetto. Il domicilio postale può essere riconducibile a una email di posta certificata (PEC) se si è continuamente in viaggio, o presso l'abitazione di un conoscente se si è stanziali.

Nonostante sia un diritto, ottenerla non è semplicissimo. C'è ancora tanta ignoranza su questo argomento. Se non hai una casa vieni visto come uno scarto della società, che deve essere assistito dai servizi sociali. Molti non concepiscono come questo possa essere uno stile di vita e non una conseguenza di povertà o una vita allo sbaraglio. Lo Stato vuole il controllo sui cittadini, chi è libero non viene visto di buon occhio e si cerca di ostacolarlo in tutti i modi. Senza residenza, però, di fatto per la legge non esisti.

Dopo il rigetto della domanda a Bologna (in cui ho avuto la residenza negli ultimi 12 anni) e nel mio comune di nascita, finalmente sono riuscito ad ottenerla a Giugno nella città in cui mi trovavo per lavoro, Reggio Emilia.

Ora sono, anche sulle carte, un nomade. Libero da tanti legami che non sentivo più miei. Libero da una qualsivoglia terra a cui non mi sento più di appartenere.

Perché, arrivato a questo punto della mia vita, mi sento di appartenere al mondo intero.

Today I'm traveling since a month. I feel like I arrived since few days and at the same time I feel like I've been here forever. I certainly want to give thanks.

To life. To Mother Nature. To my righteous path, which continues to manifest itself before me and to lead me on this wonderful adventure. To myself, for the love I'm finally learning to give myself. To all the souls who walk with me, accompanying me and giving me the opportunity to share, learn and grow even more.

In particular, today I want to thank my friend Gianluca, who is the creator of these beautiful photos that portray me as I thank for the advent of another day.

I met Gianluca last summer in Croatia, even though we were already in contact through mutual friends, and we immediately got in great harmony.

After six months we got together here in Mazunte, and the occasion gave me the idea for this column: every month I will tell you about the life of a traveler I have known or with whom I am in contact, in the hope of sharing more and more information. and inspirations.

Hi Gianluca, can you tell us who you are and what do you do?

Hi Ale, I am an Italian photographer and videomaker. I lived my formative years and my first work experiences in Bologna, initially thinking that it would be the city where I would live the rest of my life. Although I had created a good network of contacts, the amount of jobs that arrived, even if interesting, was not enough to have economic stability. This is also why I was afraid of traveling, thinking it would be hard to make business contacts elsewhere.

Until in 2017, at 29, the dissatisfaction with everything I was experiencing and a fairly dark period led me to book, without thinking too much, a one-way ticket to Australia.

So it all started, after that trip I couldn't stop. I recently became officially nomadic, I no longer have a home and I live in search of adventures and a place in the world.

We met at the Modem Festival, of which you were the official photographer. Tell us about your experience in the world of psytrance festivals.

I have been working in festivals since 2014 but only recently I discovered the Psy world. After the first party in 2017, I fell madly in love with it and immediately decided that this was the lifestyle I wanted to adopt: traveling the world following the festival season, being carried away by "pirate" travelers, living adventures and above all free. I organized a travel / documentary project traveling by land from the Boom festival in Portugal (one of the biggest Psy festivals in Europe) to Goa in India, where the movement was born. From there many doors opened to me and I started working for some festivals. The first was the 7 Chakras festival in Italy, which introduced me to the scene. Later I felt the need to have other experiences abroad and I was accepted to work at MoDem in Croatia. In two weeks I met a disproportionate amount of artists, musicians, DJs, organizers and fantastic people from all over the world. Psy festivals throw a wonderful alternate reality in your face, that when you discover it you never want to go back to real life. There is a lot of culture with workshops, readings, debates. Then there is the healing part with yoga, massages, sound bathing and spiritual well-being. Art galleries with amazing artist exhibits and live painting. The music, with different stages and always of excellent quality. And the people who go to this kind of festival, the ones I can't live without. A great tribe, brothers and sisters spars * around the world. A huge family that you will meet on every trip and that will always welcome you with a huge and warm hug. Those who, even if you frequent them for a short time, manage to fill your heart and make you love the world.

Let's talk about living on the go, what is your formula?

The formula may vary according to your needs. When I go to other continents I always leave with two backpacks, like right now in Mexico. The backpack with the bare essentials for survival and the photographic backpack, with all the work equipment. Compared to other travelers, I carry a lot of weight on my shoulders, but it is essential for me to work. Often traveling to warm places reduces the volume of clothing and if I find myself passing through cold areas I look for some warmer clothes in flea markets or free markets (they are found in social centers, ecovillages, hostels and community situations), where travelers and locals leave what is no longer needed and those who need it can take them for free. As far as accommodation is concerned, I always look for the cheapest situations: sometimes I let myself be hosted, other times I go to hostels or I volunteer in community places when I want to stay longer.

In Europe I left the camper, which becomes my home for the summer months and which allows me to cut costs and to be able to turn more easily. I first experienced vanlife during my first trip to Australia, I fell madly in love with it and I think it is the best way to travel for long periods.

You are one of the few people I know who enjoys the status of "homeless": can you explain briefly what it is and the reasons for your choice?

To be recognized by the state, to have a series of rights (vote, health, work, etc.) and to be able to travel, we need a residence. For those who do not have a fixed residence, it is possible to obtain residence in a fictitious street, each city must have one. It can be used for all nomads (digital and non-digital), for those who always travel for work, for those who live in campers and even for the homeless. The postal address can be traced back to a certified mail (PEC) email if you are constantly traveling, or to the home of an acquaintance if you are permanent.

Although it is a right, obtaining it is not very easy. There is still a lot of ignorance on this subject. If you don't have a home, you are seen as a waste of society, which must be looked after by social services. Many do not understand how this can be a way of life and not a consequence of poverty or a life in disarray. The state wants control over the citizens, whoever is free is not frowned upon and attempts are made to hinder him in every way possible. Without residence, however, by law you do not actually exist.

After the rejection of the application in Bologna (where I had resided for the last 12 years) and in my town of birth, I finally managed to obtain it in June in the city where I was working, Reggio Emilia.

Now I am a nomad even on the papers. Free from so many bonds that I no longer felt mine. Free from any land to which I no longer feel I belong.

Because, having reached this point in my life, I feel I belong to the whole world.
